The Confluence (India)

A learned historian walks us through the enchanting story behind the world's biggest and oldest congregation, the 'Maha Kumbha Mela', held in northern India in early 2013. Exploring demi-gods & incarnations & river-goddesses, we get a closer look at this age-old tradition, and its relevance in today's world.

After some years shuffling across different cities and work profiles from Radio to TV and on to Telecom, Shantanu Kakde decided to pursue the visual medium and joined the eclectic New School University in New York. His thesis project explores his Indian roots with a meaningful effort at deciphering an extraordinary ancient facet of India, and the world. 'The Confluence' is an endeavour to create social awareness of the ‘Kumbha’, the oldest and largest gathering in human history. In the long run, he wishes
to delve into our rich and diverse ancient histories all around the world via documentary films, music videos and travel shows.

Today, he is based in sunny California and functions as a documentary film maker, Photographer, DP, freelance editor, voice artist and at times a language instructor.
